A 17-year-old standout lacrosse player from a high school in Washington state died from his injuries after being struck by a ball during a game, according to reports. The midfielder was hit at the base of his neck, where the ball penetrated beneath the rear edge of his helmet, causing immediate collapse. He was rushed to emergency surgery in Seattle but died nearly a week later.
