The Druze community in Suwayda, southern Syria, held a commemoration Wednesday for the first anniversary of massacres in which more than 1,700 Druze were killed by forces of the Syrian regime of Abu Muhammad al-Julani, according to reports.
The commemoration in Suwayda honors the first anniversary of days of violence in which Druze residents were targeted by forces loyal to Ahmad al-Sharaa (known as Abu Muhammad al-Julani). The massacre, which reportedly claimed over 1,700 lives, occurred in the context of the broader Syrian conflict. The Zioneer has previously covered reports of mass executions by al-Julani's forces, including a separate incident in early July in which more than 300 people were executed in a 24-hour period. The Druze community in southern Syria remains one of the most affected groups in the ongoing civil war.
