A new swimming pool was inaugurated at Kibbutz Kerem Shalom, a community near the Gaza border that suffered devastating losses on October 7, 2023. The project, costing more than NIS 8 million, was led by the local development association. Talia Nitzan, chair of the association and widow of Amichai Nitzan who was killed on October 7, commented on the significance of moving forward with the rehabilitation: "It was clear to me that when we return home, it has to be different." The opening marks a step in the gradual rebuilding and psychological recovery of the kibbutz, whose residents were evacuated and continue to resettle.
