A delegation of rabbis from the 'Rabbis of the Good Land' settlement committee visited the Beit Anut hilltop in the Hebron Hills on Friday morning to support three families whose homes were demolished by the Civil Administration overnight. Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Schwartz of Kiryat Arba told residents the location was strategically important and predicted that a Jewish settlement would eventually arise there.
A delegation of rabbis from the 'Rabbis of the Good Land' settlement committee visited the Beit Anut hilltop in the Hebron Hills on Friday morning to show solidarity with three families whose homes were demolished by the Civil Administration on Thursday night. The visit comes one day after the demolition, which residents said was carried out by hundreds of Border Police and resulted in three arrests.
Among the rabbis were Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Schwartz, rabbi of Kiryat Arba; Rabbi Noam Waldman, head of the Nir Hesder yeshiva; and Rabbi Yinon Klein, rabbi of the Givat Asaf settlement. Rabbi Schwartz said the delegation came to protest the destruction and encourage residents to persevere. According to a report by the delegation, Schwartz stated: 'We are here this morning, three rabbis like a court, and we tell the community that in this place a Jewish settlement will yet arise. This is a most strategic and important point for settlement.' Schwartz added: 'Even if there are elements in the security system who oppose the hilltop today, you have no reason to be alarmed. They come and go after a short time, and you remain here forever. The time has come to officially regulate Beit Anut and turn it into a city and mother in Israel.'
As The Zioneer reported on June 25, the demolition was carried out by Border Police and Civil Administration inspectors, with residents given ten minutes to evacuate before belongings were removed. The incident has drawn renewed attention to the status of unauthorized hilltop outposts in the area.
