The Jerusalem District Court has permitted Zol VeGadol branches on Jaffa Road to resume selling all food items, including baby products, after the discount chain appealed the Health Ministry's closure order in the 'Frinook' anesthetic-tainted baby puree affair. The ruling partially reverses the administrative closure imposed after sedatives were found in Prinok jars sold at the two locations.
The Jerusalem District Court today allowed the Zol VeGadol supermarket branches on Jaffa Road to resume full food sales, including baby products, in a partial reversal of the Health Ministry's closure order. The discount chain had appealed the administrative closure imposed after anesthetic drugs (clonazepam and lorazepam) were found in 'Frinook' brand baby puree jars sold at the two branches.
As The Zioneer reported on June 17, the Health Ministry issued cease-and-desist orders to the branches after lab tests identified the sedatives. Three families have given testimony to police investigating whether the drugs were deliberately injected.
A separate police investigation continues; the Shin Bet is not involved, according to earlier police statements. The court's ruling allows the stores to reopen for food sales but does not fully nullify the investigation or regulatory actions.
