The United States conducted a fourth consecutive night of airstrikes against strategic targets across Iran, marking a significant expansion of the kinetic campaign. In response, the Iranian military launched retaliatory strikes against Jordan, Kuwait, and Bahrain, while notably refraining from targeting Israel, Saudi Arabia, or the United Arab Emirates.
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) completed a roughly seven-hour wave of strikes overnight Wednesday, acting under the direction of the U.S. administration. The operation targeted military bases, warehouses, and ports across several Iranian provinces, including Kurdistan in the west, Khuzestan in the southwest, and multiple coastal sites in the south. According to reports reviewed by The Zioneer Intelligence Desk, one strike in Bampur (Sistan and Baluchestan province) resulted in the deaths of 10-15 Iranian soldiers. Other targets included the port of Mahshahr, Qeshm Island, and infrastructure in Bandar Abbas and Chabahar. Iranian state media also claimed that a wheat storage facility in Hoveyzeh was hit during the raids.
Tehran responded by initiating the seventh phase of its 'Thunder/Lightning' operation. The Iranian military confirmed it launched drone attacks against the Al-Azraq base in Jordan, claiming to have hit F/A-18 parking areas and housing units used by U.S. forces. Retaliatory strikes were also directed at targets in Kuwait and Bahrain. While the Iranian Foreign Ministry characterized the U.S. actions as 'war crimes,' the regime’s choice of targets suggests a calculated effort to pressure regional hosts of U.S. military assets while avoiding a direct escalation with Israel or the major Gulf monarchies at this stage. The U.S. Treasury simultaneously expanded sanctions against Iranian shipping networks, signaling a multi-dimensional approach to the ongoing confrontation.
