A verified nonprofit representing the 9th (Oded) Reserve Brigade of the Golani Division has launched a crowdfunding campaign to purchase lifesaving protective nets for soldiers operating on the northern front, the organization announced Monday. According to the campaign, tens of thousands of shekels have already been raised and protective nets purchased for several brigades and units in the field.
The Oded Spirit (רוח עודד) nonprofit, associated with the 9th (Oded) Reserve Brigade of the Golani Division, announced Monday evening a fundraising drive to purchase protective nets for IDF soldiers operating on the northern front. In a social media campaign, the organization stated that tens of thousands of shekels have already been raised, and protective nets have been purchased for several brigades and units deployed in the field.
Col. (res.) Yossi Tal, the nonprofit's director, was quoted as saying, "We know the threats in the northern theater well and the operational needs of the fighters. For us, any opportunity to assist and give them an additional layer of protection is a mission and mutual responsibility."
The campaign as described is the latest in a series of crowdfunding efforts by Israeli civil-society and reservist-affiliated groups seeking to supplement official military equipment. As The Zioneer has reported, similar emergency fundraising campaigns for personal protective gear and equipment have surfaced periodically since reserve units were called up for extended service on the northern border.
This particular drive focuses on protective nets rather than ballistic vests or helmets, addressing a niche but potentially life-saving need for forces operating under Hezbollah's threat of mortar and anti-tank fire. The call comes as reserve duty on the northern front continues with no clear end in sight.
