A large fire broke out at the Strauss and Tapugen factories in the Sha'ar HaNegev industrial zone in Sderot shortly before 10:00 Monday morning. Firefighting crews from multiple stations responded to the blaze, which initially raised concerns about hazardous materials. At 10:20, residents of the nearby 'Music' neighborhood were asked to stay indoors and close windows due to the risk of toxic leakage.
By 10:30, N12 reporter Itai Gal-On reported that an ammonia leak had been detected from the fire, prompting the evacuation of the adjacent commercial center and the entire industrial zone. No casualties have been reported. Firefighting efforts continue to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby structures. As The Zioneer reported at 10:32, the fire was first reported around 09:56 and escalated rapidly.
