A slow-roll protest convoy of about 100 vehicles is traveling on the Coastal Highway in the Haifa area, passing the Matam Junction, Israeli media report. The convoy is accompanied by Israel Police officers of the Coastal District. The protest is part of ongoing anti-government demonstrations.
A slow-roll protest convoy reached the Matam Junction in Haifa, on the Coastal Highway, just after 17:00 on Wednesday. Journalist Uri Ravid reported the convoy comprised approximately 100 vehicles and was traveling under police escort from the Coastal District.
This protest adds to a day of multiple slow-roll actions nationwide, which The Zioneer has been covering throughout the day. Earlier, anti-government protesters blocked Route 57 at Beit Lid and Kfar Yona junctions, and a separate Haredi protest convoy on Highway 1 called for an end to arrests of yeshiva students who do not enlist. A protest organizer claimed 5,000 vehicles had joined the day's protests, an unverified figure.
The current convoy's location and size are confirmed by the N12 reporter on scene. It remains unclear how long the disruption will last.
