TL;DR

Riots in Belfast raged for a second night, with buildings set on fire and police deploying water cannons. UK Labour officials publicly blamed Elon Musk, owner of X, for inciting the unrest through his platform and comments. Labour Party Chair Anna Turley called on Musk to 'call for calm,' according to reports.

01 · THE DISPATCH

Violent protests in Belfast entered a second night, escalating from Monday's unrest that followed the circulation of a stabbing video. Buildings were set alight and police deployed water cannons against demonstrators.

The British government, and specifically Labour Party Chair Anna Turley, blamed X owner Elon Musk for fueling the disorder. Turley was quoted saying anyone driving 'their own political agenda' is 'grievously wrong' and demanded Musk take responsibility and 'call for calm.'

Musk, a longtime critic of Labour’s immigration policy, posted on X that 'only by protesting REPEATEDLY and LOUDLY will there be any change!!' and circulated a post listing dozens of protest locations. As The Zioneer reported, the unrest began June 9 after a video of a stabbing by a Somali migrant sparked protests in Belfast, spreading to Wales and Liverpool, and leading to asylum seeker accommodations being broken into and set on fire.
