Blue and White chairman Benny Gantz said Monday that he met recently with Shin Bet Director David Zini, the latest in a series of security briefings the agency chief has held with political leaders. According to reports by Moriah Asraf and Doron Kadosh (N13 / Army Radio), Gantz confirmed the meeting, which follows Zini's sit-downs with former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and opposition prime ministerial candidate Gadi Eisenkot.
As The Zioneer has previously reported, Zini also met with opposition leader Yair Lapid on July 12, and held a security briefing with him. The meetings come amid heightened scrutiny of the Shin Bet under Zini's leadership, including friction with the political echelon over internal leak investigations and the agency's role in evaluating political party eligibility.
Democrats chairman Yair Golan, who is running for prime minister, said he has not been invited to meet Zini but expressed openness to such a meeting.
