U.S. Central Command announced it completed a five-hour wave of precision strikes against Iranian military targets in Bushehr, Chabahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa, and Bandar Abbas, according to N12. The strikes targeted air defense systems, missile and drone sites, and naval capabilities to further degrade Iran's ability to attack commercial shipping.
U.S. Central Command earlier this morning confirmed it had completed a five-hour wave of precision strikes across Iran, hitting six locations: Bushehr, Chabahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa, and Bandar Abbas. The strikes targeted air defense systems, missile and drone sites, and naval capabilities, according to CENTCOM. This follows an initial CENTCOM announcement at 05:21 Jerusalem that a wave had concluded, with a report by ynet saying the night wave lasted about five hours. At 05:21 CENTCOM also released video footage of the strikes.
The current confirmation builds on a thread of reports throughout the night. At 00:13 Jerusalem the U.S. Army said it had begun a new wave of strikes. At 05:21 CENTCOM initially reported completing a wave that hit seven locations; the present statement specifies six locations and a five-hour duration. The number of targeted locations shifted from seven to six between the earlier and later CENTCOM statements, without explanation.
The U.S. campaign against Iranian military infrastructure has been sustained over recent days and weeks. Earlier this week, The Zioneer reported, the U.S. struck more than 90 targets in Iran over two consecutive nights. The Pentagon has described the operations as self-defense against continued Iranian aggression toward commercial shipping. As The Zioneer reported on Mon Jul 13, U.S. figures confirmed 90 targets struck Wednesday night and more than 80 the night before.
It remains unclear why CENTCOM's initial report of seven hit locations was revised to six in its subsequent statement. The video footage released by CENTCOM has not been independently geolocated or verified.
