The Hadera Magistrate's Court on Sunday extended the remand of a 42-year-old suspect until Tuesday, after police arrested him in Pardes Hanna on suspicion of committing an indecent act against a 4-year-old boy in a public area. The court established a 'reasonable suspicion of high intensity' against the suspect, according to Israeli media. The judge also ordered a psychiatric evaluation at the Sha'ar Menashe Mental Health Center, after it emerged during the hearing that the suspect receives psychiatric treatment.
The investigation was prompted by a complaint from the child's father. Eyewitnesses told police that the suspect allegedly took the boy into bushes and attempted to pull down his trousers, and the child managed to escape.
As The Zioneer reported earlier Sunday, the suspect was initially arrested following the complaint and eyewitness accounts. The case is ongoing; an indictment decision is pending the psychiatric evaluation and further investigation.
