The latest update from the Democratic Republic of the Congo's health authorities, as reported by Israeli news outlet N12, brings the confirmed Ebola death toll past 1,000 for the first time since the outbreak began. The country now reports 2,536 confirmed cases, including 1,033 deaths, an increase of 63 cases and 34 deaths from the previous day's figures.
The outbreak has been tracked by The Zioneer since early June. Reporting at that time showed 550 confirmed cases and 101 deaths. By mid-June, the count had risen to 689 cases and 129 deaths, and by late June it reached 933 cases with 245 fatalities.
