TL;DR

Attorney Menashe Yado from the Honenu organization has appealed to the State Attorney and Police Commissioner regarding the high compensation paid by police to left-wing protesters who underwent strip searches, demanding an explanation why similar cases involving right-wing protesters received significantly lower payments, according to a report.

01 · THE DISPATCH

Attorney Menashe Yado, of the right-wing legal aid organization Honenu, has formally appealed to the State Attorney and the Police Commissioner over what he describes as a stark disparity in compensation payments for strip searches during protests. According to Yado, left-wing protesters who were subjected to strip searches received large payouts, while right-wing protesters in similar cases were awarded far smaller sums — in some cases less than a quarter of the amount.

The appeal comes amid ongoing controversy over police conduct during protests. As The Zioneer previously reported, a court recently ordered the Israel Police to pay NIS 624,000 to anti-government protesters who were strip-searched. Yado's letter demands an explanation for the discrepancy, arguing that the justice system has applied unequal standards.

The Honenu organization often represents right-wing activists in legal proceedings. It remains unclear whether the police or prosecution will respond to the appeal.
