An indictment was filed against Khaled Agbariya, 40, of Umm al-Fahm, for the fatal hit-and-run on Highway 6 near the Elyakim junction that killed reservist soldier Adisu Woba, according to N12 journalist Sharon Knoblich. The indictment alleges Agbariya was driving at 132 km/h in a 90 km/h zone, struck Woba's motorcycle as he signaled a lane change, then fled, dismantled his license plates, set the car on fire, and falsely reported it stolen.
The indictment, reported by N12's Sharon Knoblich, charges Agbariya with abandonment after injury, causing death by negligence, destruction of evidence, obstruction of justice, providing false information, reckless and negligent act, and excessive speeding.
According to the indictment, Agbariya was driving at 132 km/h in a 90 km/h zone on Highway 6 near the Elyakim junction, about a month ago, when he struck the motorcycle of reservist soldier Adisu Woba, who was signaling a lane change. After the collision, Agbariya continued driving for about 200 meters, did not stop to render aid, dismantled his license plates, set the vehicle on fire, and fled the scene. Approximately four minutes later, he called the police emergency line and falsely reported his car stolen.
As The Zioneer reported earlier today, the incident involved a fatal hit-and-run that killed a reservist soldier. The case is one of several recent high-profile indictments for fatal road accidents, including the case of Daniel Yavchenko charged with reckless homicide of a police officer.
