A Magen David Adom (MDA) driver in northern Israel was arrested Friday morning after pulling a licensed firearm on a volunteer coworker during a shift, according to reports. The driver was immediately suspended, his weapon confiscated, and he was released under restrictive conditions. Police assess that an indictment will be filed for threats and reckless/negligent use of a firearm.
MDA responded: "Immediately after the incident, MDA acted promptly and the employee was suspended from work. The volunteer filed a complaint with the police, the matter is being handled by law enforcement authorities, and MDA is cooperating fully. MDA views any manifestation of violence or threatening behavior with utmost severity and maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward such incidents."
The driver was arrested a decade ago for impersonating a doctor at a hospital in central Israel, presenting himself as an MDA employee. At the time, MDA stated he was not recognized as an employee, but he was later employed as a driver until his suspension.
