MK Hili Tropper (National Unity) published his own disclosure in response to the Haredi MKs' disclosures on the draft exemption bill, saying his daughters serve in combat roles and his brother is a battalion commander, and that as a result of the proposed laws his family members will serve much longer, according to Amit Segal (N12).
The Knesset debate over the draft exemption bill continued Tuesday evening with a new disclosure. MK Hili Tropper (National Unity) responded to the earlier disclosures by Haredi lawmakers, who had submitted declarations that their children and grandchildren would be affected by the proposed exemption. Tropper stated that his own daughter serves as a combat soldier, his second daughter in a special unit, and one of his brothers is a battalion commander. 'As a result of these laws, my family members will serve much more,' he said. The Zioneer earlier reported that Haredi MKs from Shas and United Torah Judaism submitted disclosures of their children and grandchildren serving as Torah scholars who would be affected by the bill, sparking uproar in the Knesset. Tropper's disclosure adds a personal dimension from a secular MK whose family is heavily involved in military service.
