A Tel Aviv resident in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a woman on Harutzim Street in Jaffa, police said Saturday. The suspect was located in southern Tel Aviv and is being transferred for questioning at the Jaffa police station.
The arrest marks a development in a case that drew public attention after security camera footage of an earlier incident was reported. Police located the suspect in southern Tel Aviv and are now questioning him at the Jaffa station. An extension of his remand will be sought based on investigation findings. The suspect has not been formally charged.
This arrest follows a prior incident on June 18 in which security footage captured a man following and sexually assaulting a woman in broad daylight on a Tel Aviv street; the suspect in that case remains at large, and police had not issued a statement at the time. The current case in Jaffa is a separate event.
