The Megilot Rescue Unit of the Israel Police and a United Hatzalah drone team are en route to Nahal Hatzatzon after four 16-year-old hikers became stuck at the bottom of a 120-meter waterfall, with their rappelling gear jammed. A police helicopter was also dispatched to assist. The extraction is ongoing.
The Megilot Rescue Unit, a police volunteer force, is responding to a report of four teenage hikers trapped in Nahal Hatzatzon in the Judean Desert. According to police spokespersons, the group — all around 16 years old — reached the base of a 120-meter waterfall but cannot complete their route because their rappelling gear became stuck. A drone team from United Hatzalah and a police helicopter have been dispatched to support the ground teams. No injuries have been reported, and rescue efforts are concentrated on freeing the hikers from the waterfall base. As The Zioneer reported on previous rescue operations in the Dead Sea region (Nahal Darga, June 12), the Megilot unit is trained for cliff and steep-terrain extractions. It remains unclear whether nightfall will affect the operation.
