Israel Police officers and detectives from the Kafr Qasem station conducted two proactive operations, locating a Scorpion machine gun, a hunting rifle, and ammunition in a vehicle, and separately finding approximately 2.5 kg of standard explosive material hidden in a truck, the police said. A police sapper examined the items and the explosives were transferred to forensic laboratories.
The first operation, conducted on Monday, involved a search in an open area in Kafr Qasem assisted by a police canine unit. Officers found an abandoned vehicle with a suspected forged license plate containing a Scorpion machine gun and a hunting rifle. Further searches uncovered several wrapped boxes that a police sapper determined contained ammunition, not an explosive device. In a second operation over the past weekend, detectives searched an open area near the Khamis Stadium between Kafr Qasem and Kafr Bara and found a hidden cache in an abandoned truck containing five items of standard explosive material weighing a total of about 2.5 kg. The explosives were seized and sent for forensic analysis.
