President Isaac Herzog joined Haredi soldiers of the IDF's Hashmonaim Brigade for a reading of the Book of Lamentations (Eicha) on the eve of Tisha B'Av, the Jewish day of mourning over the destruction of the First and Second Temples. The reading of Lamentations is a central observance of the fast day. As The Zioneer reported earlier Wednesday evening, the President read the scroll alongside the soldiers at an undisclosed location. The Hashmonaim Brigade is a Haredi infantry unit established to integrate ultra-Orthodox recruits into combat service.
