Former MK Yoav Segalovich is considering joining the Ra'am party, according to a report by Yediot News. The report states that Segalovich, who previously headed the national program to combat crime in Arab society, is expected to meet Ra'am chairman Mansour Abbas next week to finalize the move.
The Zioneer has previously reported on the ongoing contacts between the two figures. On July 21, The Zioneer reported that Abbas was promoting the addition of Segalovich to his party. On July 31, both men denied that an agreement had been reached, despite advanced talks. An assessment published by The Zioneer on July 31 suggested that such an alliance could be a heavy blow to the Democrats party, from which Segalovich was elected to the Knesset in 2022.
Segalovich served as head of the Investigations and Intelligence Division of the Israel Police before entering politics. The focus on fighting crime in Arab society appears to be the central motivation for the potential partnership.
The report from Yediot News is the latest indication that the talks have progressed, though no formal agreement has been announced.
