01 · THE DISPATCH

Two senior Israel Police officers — Chief Spokesperson Sub-Inspector Lior Avudraham and Human Resources Chief Maj.-Gen. Alona Shushan — were summoned Tuesday for a third round of questioning in an investigation linked to suspicions against Israel Prisons Service Commissioner Kobi Yaakobi, Channel 12 reported.

Earlier Tuesday, Police Commissioner Danny Levi addressed the investigation for the first time in a letter to personnel, asserting that facts are being examined by competent authorities and expressing support for the officers. As The Zioneer reported today at 12:10, the investigation focuses on suspicions of witness harassment — specifically, that attempts to link Avudraham to various offenses were aimed at undermining his credibility as a prosecution witness in the Yaakobi case.

The probe is separate from an ongoing Competition Authority investigation into Avudraham over allegations including sexual harassment, which has also involved confrontations with a senior female officer. A confrontation between Avudraham and Shushan is reportedly expected in the current questioning. Yaakobi himself was questioned under caution on June 17 on suspicion of witness intimidation.
