Yerose Kasaou, the elder sister of missing 11-year-old Haymanot Kasaou, spoke emotionally Wednesday evening, directly appealing to her sister and the public in a desperate plea for help. Haymanot has been missing for over two years, and her family, immigrants who have built a life in Israel, say they cannot continue alone.
In a heartfelt and painful statement Wednesday evening, Yerose Kasaou, the elder sister of missing 11-year-old Haymanot Kasaou, made an emotional public appeal for help. Haymanot has been missing for over two years, with her family enduring an agonizing wait for any information about her whereabouts.
Speaking directly to her younger sister, Yerose said: 'Haimi, I miss you. I was supposed to start teaching you how to do your hair, how to put on makeup... and all I can ask is where are you and why isn't everything being done for you?' She promised her sister she would return home, and pleaded with the public to stay with the family in their search.
Yerose described the family's pain: 'We were a happy family. We learned to be Israelis... Haymanot already spoke fluent Hebrew, and someone just stole her from us, and in that moment also stole our happiness and the light in my parents' eyes.' She expressed a wish to leave the absorption center in Safed and have a happy home with Hayimot.
The appeal comes as the family says they cannot manage alone. A previous national billboard campaign was ordered by a Knesset committee, with a reward of one million shekels for information leading to her discovery. The case remains open, with no known breakthrough.
