US Central Command said it completed a five-hour wave of strikes across Iran, hitting coastal defense systems, missile and drone sites, and naval capabilities in Bushehr, Chabahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa Island, and Bandar Abbas. Iran claimed responsibility for an initial retaliatory strike on Al-Jafir base in Bahrain and another base in Jordan, and said it struck two large oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz that ignored its instructions.
The United States carried out a third major wave of airstrikes against Iranian military infrastructure overnight, US Central Command announced Tuesday morning. The five-hour operation targeted coastal defense systems, missile and drone launch sites, and naval capabilities across six locations in southern and coastal Iran: Bushehr, Chabahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa Island, and Bandar Abbas.
Iran responded with a first wave of retaliatory fire, claiming responsibility for strikes on the Al-Jafir base in Bahrain and another base in Jordan. Tehran also said it struck two large oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz that had ignored its instructions.
The strikes follow a sustained US campaign against Iranian military targets. As The Zioneer reported at 07:19 Tuesday, the US struck targets in southern Iran overnight. The operation is the latest in a series that has included more than 90 targets on a second consecutive night of operations last week, according to the Pentagon. Iran has previously retaliated against US bases in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan.
The extent of damage and casualties from the latest wave and Iran's response is not yet confirmed.
