US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent says Washington has dispatched teams worldwide to pressure countries to economically isolate Iran, with discussions involving more than 50 countries. Turkey and Oman halted incoming flights from Mahan Air, the UAE blocked Bank Melli transactions, and Turkey revoked Bank Mellat's license, according to The Zioneer.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced Sunday that Washington has deployed teams to engage with more than 50 countries in a coordinated effort to economically isolate Iran. In a statement reported by The Zioneer, Bessent said the campaign is already yielding results: Turkey and Oman have halted incoming flights by the Iranian airline Mahan Air; the UAE has stopped flights by Iranian airlines and blocked transactions involving Iran's Bank Melli; and Turkey revoked the license of Bank Mellat. Bessent described the initiative as an 'economic D-Day' against the Iranian regime, though some Iranian carriers continue operating routes to China.
The Treasury Department has imposed multiple rounds of sanctions on Iranian entities in recent months. The Zioneer has previously reported on sanctions targeting Mahan Air support networks, Bank Melli branches, and over 60 Iranian-linked targets since July.
