IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir said the military failed during the October 7 events, according to Channel 14. Bereaved father Itzik Fittusi said the command echelon had failed and that proper leadership could have kept the disaster from reaching such proportions.
Zamir’s statement and Fittusi’s criticism were reported by Channel 14. Fittusi is the father of fallen soldier Yishai Fittusi; in the same report, he said his son showed courage while fighting dozens of terrorists at Nahal Oz on October 7.
In separate earlier reports, The Zioneer reported on July 15 that families of October 7 victims alleged that commanders who failed in their duties were promoted rather than held accountable. On October 5, The Zioneer reported Zamir’s attendance at the state ceremony marking the third anniversary of the massacre.
