Farhat Harara
Farhat Harara was a senior field commander within the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terror organization in Gaza City. He was eliminated in a targeted Israeli airstrike in June 2026 alongside several other high-ranking operatives.
Farhat Harara served as a mid-to-senior level operative in the military apparatus of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) in the northern Gaza Strip. His operational focus was centered on Gaza City, a stronghold where the PIJ maintains significant tactical coordination with other terror factions. Harara's responsibilities included overseeing militant activities and maintaining the group's operational readiness against IDF maneuvers in the northern enclave. On June 6, 2026, Harara was killed during a precision strike conducted by an Israeli unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The strike targeted a tent in the al-Jawazat area of western Gaza City. According to reports from Gazan sources, the elimination occurred while Harara was participating in a leadership meeting with other prominent PIJ commanders. The operation resulted in the deaths of eight individuals, including three other high-ranking commanders: Muhammad Abu Afash, Abdullah Kadoum (head of the group's anti-tank array), and Naim al-Sarsawi. The removal of Harara is part of a broader Israeli strategy to dismantle the command-and-control structures of terror organizations in northern Gaza. By targeting field commanders of Harara's rank, the IDF aims to disrupt the tactical coordination required for rocket fire and anti-tank ambushes against Israeli forces and civilian centers. His death represents a significant blow to the PIJ's local leadership and its ability to sustain organized resistance in the Gaza City sector.
