Fourteen people were injured, including three in moderate condition, following a fire in an eight-story residential building on MacDonald Street in Netanya overnight. Magen David Adom (MDA) reported that the moderately injured victims—a 42-year-old woman and two children aged 7 and 4—suffered from smoke inhalation. All 14 victims were evacuated to Laniado Hospital for medical treatment after Israel Fire and Rescue Services successfully rescued 25 individuals who had been trapped in the structure.
The emergency began late Wednesday night at 23:34 when reports reached Magen David Adom regarding a fire in a residential building in Netanya. Eight firefighting and rescue teams from the Netanya regional station were dispatched to the scene, where they found a flat on fire and smoke spreading through the eight-story structure. Firefighters conducted extensive searches across all floors to locate trapped residents while simultaneously working to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to adjacent apartments.
According to Israel Fire and Rescue Services, 25 people were rescued from the building. MDA paramedics and United Hatzalah volunteers provided initial medical aid at the scene. Among the 14 individuals requiring hospitalization, the most serious cases involved a mother and her two young children, who were classified as being in moderate condition due to smoke inhalation. The remaining 11 victims sustained light injuries.
Fire investigators are currently working to determine the cause of the fire. The incident follows several recent reports of fires in the Netanya area, including a smaller blaze reported on the same street earlier this week. Authorities have not yet indicated whether there is any connection between these events or if the cause was accidental in nature. The building has since been cleared of smoke, and the fire is fully extinguished.
