Police locate missing Israeli mother and daughter abroad

The Israel Police confirmed on Friday night that Mali and Liel Yahalomi have been found. While official statements did not specify their exact location, multiple reports indicate the pair traveled from Austria to Germany and subsequently boarded a flight to Argentina.

Shifting Investigation

The case began on August 7, 2026, when the two were reported missing in the Austrian capital. The disappearance initially triggered a high-priority search involving the Mossad, Shin Bet, and Austrian security services due to fears of a nationalistic or criminal motive. However, as The Zioneer reported earlier this week, investigators began uncovering evidence of a deliberate disappearance, including security footage of the pair leaving their apartment voluntarily and the deletion of location data from their mobile devices.

Journey to South America

According to reports from Austrian authorities and Israeli media, including N12, investigators tracked the pair's movements via train to Germany. From there, their names were reportedly identified on a Lufthansa flight manifest to Argentina that departed last Saturday. Vienna police confirmed there is no indication that the two were victims of a violent crime, concluding they left Austria of their own accord.

Family Response

Despite the police announcement, the family had previously urged authorities not to cease search efforts, maintaining that all possibilities—including a security-related incident—remained open. The location of the mother and daughter brings an end to a week of intense public concern in Israel regarding their safety abroad.
