Bystanders subdued a suspect who attempted to abduct an 11-year-old girl in broad daylight on a Petah Tikva street Thursday morning, police said. The suspect was initially arrested at the scene, then arrested again after allegedly assaulting a medical worker during a medical evaluation.
Thursday's attempted abduction in Petah Tikva marks the second such incident in the central region in a week. Police said bystanders intervened after the girl screamed, overpowering the suspect and holding him until officers arrived. The suspect was taken for a medical evaluation and was re-arrested after allegedly attacking medical staff. As The Zioneer reported Thursday morning, a similar attempt occurred Wednesday evening in Hadera, where a 12-year-old girl was targeted and residents detained the suspect. In the earlier Petah Tikva incident from Wednesday afternoon — also reported by The Zioneer — the suspect fled but was later arrested. Police have not yet indicated whether the cases are linked.
