A massive firefighting operation is underway at Havat Gilad in Samaria, with 45 crews and eight aircraft working to contain the blaze, according to N12's Inbar Twizer citing the Israel Fire and Rescue Services.
At 17:43 Jerusalem, Israel Fire and Rescue Services had deployed 45 firefighting crews and eight aircraft to battle the wildfire at Havat Gilad in Samaria, according to N12 correspondent Inbar Twizer citing the fire service. This marks a major escalation from the initial response of four aircraft reported shortly after the fire broke out around 15:27 Jerusalem.
The fire was first reported at approximately 15:27 Jerusalem, with initial reports from N12 indicating six homes destroyed, a fire truck burned, and a firefighter injured. Within the first hour, the damage estimate rose to more than 10 homes, and Israel Hayom later reported that 10 homes had been damaged and two firefighters suffered moderate and light injuries. The IDF Shomron Brigade was deployed to assist ground efforts.
The Zioneer has previously reported on wildfires in the region, including a blaze near Tayibe on June 28 that required 14 crews and four aircraft, and a large brush fire in the Galilee on June 24 that threatened a military base. These incidents highlight the seasonal fire risk amid dry conditions.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and no update on the current damage total or the condition of the injured firefighters has been provided in the latest report.
