An 80-year-old man drowned in the Dead Sea on Tuesday afternoon, according to initial reports. MDA rescue teams recovered his body without vital signs. The incident follows a prior rescue earlier Tuesday in which another elderly man was pulled from the Dead Sea without vital signs and CPR was administered — it is not yet clear whether the two cases are related or separate. Since the start of the swimming season, MDA has treated dozens of drowning victims, with several fatalities.
