New reports from southwestern Iran indicate at least 15 explosions in Ahvaz and additional blasts in the port city of Chabahar on Wednesday evening, according to Iranian sources cited by Israeli journalist Asaf Rosentzweig (N12). The cause remains unknown. This is the second wave of blasts in Ahvaz within roughly twenty minutes.
The Zioneer first reported five explosions in Ahvaz at 22:09 Jerusalem time. Minutes later, at 22:12, the desk issued a series of updates: first reporting explosions in Chabahar, then adding that explosions had also been heard in Ahvaz, and finally raising the count to at least 15 in Ahvaz alongside blasts in Chabahar. All reports rely on unverified Iranian sources and could not be independently confirmed.
The Zioneer has previously covered explosions in Ahvaz. On June 10, the desk reported explosion sounds in northwestern Ahvaz cited by local outlet Pars News. On July 9, a security analyst reported continued blasts in Ahvaz, attributing earlier incidents to domestic gas leaks. The current series of blasts, however, remains unexplained.
No official Iranian statement has been issued, and no group has claimed responsibility. The target, casualties, and damage remain unknown. Reports cannot be independently verified.
