According to a report, a vehicle carrying Arab infiltrators arrived at the Hashmonaim checkpoint on Monday evening and attempted to run over the soldiers stationed there before fleeing. Troops opened fire at the vehicle, and the suspects escaped. No Israeli casualties were reported.

The checkpoint, situated on Route 446 in the West Bank, has been the site of similar security incidents in recent weeks. On June 16, police shot and arrested a Palestinian suspect who had stolen a car and rammed officers at the same location, as The Zioneer reported. The current incident is under investigation.
