Balad held primaries today for its slate ahead of a possible joint run with other Arab parties. Bakher Awada and Dr. Maha Karkabi Sabah secured the second and third spots, according to Dafna Liel (N12). The party is preparing for a potential three-way joint list.
Balad, one of the Arab parties in Israel, held internal primaries this afternoon to determine its slate for the upcoming Knesset elections. According to a report from N12's Dafna Liel, Bakher Awada and Dr. Maha Karkabi Sabah won the second and third spots on the party's list. The primaries come as Balad coordinates with Hadash and Ta'al on a possible joint electoral list — a scenario that would be a three-way Arab alliance without Ra'am, which remains outside. As The Zioneer previously reported on June 10, Hadash, Ta'al, and Balad had already finalized a joint list without Ra'am. The exact order of the joint list and whether it will indeed go forward may depend on further negotiations following today's internal results.
