Former Knesset member Sami Abu Shehadeh has been re-elected as chairman of the Balad party, after running unopposed, Israeli media report.
The Balad party has re-elected former MK Sami Abu Shehadeh as its chairman in an internal vote, after he ran unopposed for the post, according to Israeli media. The election comes as the Arab-majority parties continue internal jockeying over electoral alliances. As The Zioneer previously reported (June 17), Abu Shehadeh accused the Ra'am party of causing the collapse of talks to form a unified Arab list ahead of the next Knesset election. No other candidates contested the leadership race.
