01 · THE DISPATCH

Ofri Bibas Levy, whose brother Yarden survived captivity and whose sister-in-law Shiri and nephews Ariel and Kfir were killed in Hamas captivity, spoke publicly as Israel marks 1,000 days since the October 7 attack. In a statement aired by N12, Levy said the family is marking the milestone 'without accountability, without answers, and without an attempt to restore — the trust, the sense of betrayal, the abandonment.' She charged that instead of addressing the failure that led to the disaster, the government is 'engaged in defensive blame-shifting.'

The statement adds to a growing chorus of hostage families and survivors demanding a state commission of inquiry. Earlier today, surviving hostage Nili Margalit also called for a state inquiry at an event marking the same grim milestone. The Bibas case has been a persistent national rallying point; as The Zioneer reported Thursday morning, Shiri Bibas's cousin Yifat Zeiler led a protest calling for a hostage deal. No official government response to Levy's remarks has been reported yet.
