Israel's Defense Ministry inaugurated a new defense production line for components of the Eitan armored personnel carrier at the Gbeasol Pladot factory in Ein Harod, part of a strategy to expand the defense industrial base and strengthen the eastern region.
Israel's Defense Ministry on Thursday inaugurated a new production line for components of the Eitan armored personnel carrier at the Gbeasol Pladot factory in Ein Harod, in the Jezreel Valley. The move is part of a broader strategy to expand the defense industrial base and strengthen the eastern region of Israel, the ministry said.
The ministry announced earlier this month the establishment of an 'Eastern District' directorate tasked with building 40 fortified civilian outposts along the border with Jordan, as The Zioneer reported on July 6. The new production line is a concrete step toward integrating defense infrastructure with settlement and economic development in the area, according to the ministry.
The facility will produce components for the Eitan, a wheeled APC designed for troop transport in combat zones. The ministry said the integration of advanced security infrastructure with economic growth will contribute to the settlement continuum, enhance governance, and create long-term employment in the region.
