Former Shin Bet director Ronen Bar updated Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the arrest of his former spokesman Eli Feldstein shortly after it was carried out, according to Channel 12's Ofir Hadad. The report says the PMO was informed of the probe's early stages despite a complete gag order being imposed at the time, and that aide Yonatan Urich allegedly destroyed his phone within a day of Feldstein's arrest.
Channel 12's Ofir Hadad reported Wednesday evening that former Shin Bet director Ronen Bar personally informed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of the arrest of his former spokesman, Eli Feldstein, shortly after it was carried out. The report adds that the Prime Minister's Office was kept in the loop during the early stages of the investigation, even while a full gag order was still in effect. According to the report, Netanyahu's communications adviser Yonatan Urich is suspected of destroying the contents of his mobile phone within 24 hours of Feldstein's arrest. As The Zioneer previously reported, Urich has been charged with passing secret information with intent to harm state security and with destroying evidence. The new revelations shed further light on the timeline of the investigation and the extent of senior-level awareness within the PMO.
