Eyal Ashel, father of observer Roni Ashel who fell on October 7 at the Nahal Oz outpost, interrupted Minister Bezalel Smotrich's speech at a ceremony in the Gaza envelope area. Ashel shouted at the minister to leave the stage, saying he dishonors the fallen who are not present, according to Israeli media.
Eyal Ashel, whose daughter Roni—an IDF observation soldier—was killed at the Nahal Oz outpost on October 7, confronted Minister of Finance and Religious Affairs Bezalel Smotrich during an event in the Gaza periphery on Monday afternoon. Ashel shouted: "Get off the stage, you are dishonoring all the fallen who are not here today," according to Israel Hayom. The interruption comes after a series of public confrontations between bereaved families and public figures over responsibility for the October 7 failures. Last week, Ashel also confronted former NSC head Maj. Gen. (res.) Yaakov Amidror at a security conference, telling him that his daughter died because of Amidror's son. Smotrich did not immediately respond to the incident.
