The family of a young man murdered in Jerusalem says they warned authorities about threats against him, stating 'the writing was on the wall.' The case is under investigation.
The family of Beniahu Razi, the young man murdered in Jerusalem, has issued a statement claiming they warned authorities about threats against him before the killing. In a statement to Israeli media, the family said 'the writing was on the wall,' implying the attack could have been prevented. This development follows earlier reports Sunday evening (Jul 12, 18:20 Jerusalem) that the murder, which occurred in the Nahlaot neighborhood, was reportedly broadcast live to Razi's ex-partner, who was waiting in a car outside. At the same time Sunday, the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court ordered the extension of the detention of six suspects arrested in connection with the case. Razi's mother later said in an interview that his ex-girlfriend had threatened him repeatedly for an extended period before the stabbing, describing how violent youths entered the apartment where he was with friends, beat them, and stabbed her son in the heart, adding the stabbing was intentional. The ex-girlfriend was reportedly 'obsessed' with him. Police have not yet commented on the family's latest claim that warnings were ignored. The investigation into the murder is ongoing, and no arrests beyond the six suspects have been reported. The case has drawn attention to questions of security and threat assessment in the capital. It remains unclear what specific warnings were given to authorities, and whether any steps were taken in response.
