A fire in Sderot is not yet under control, ynet reports Monday. As a result, trains will temporarily not stop at the city's station.
Train services to Sderot station have been temporarily suspended as of Monday afternoon due to the ongoing fire at the Strauss and Tapugen factories. The fire, which broke out around 10:31, is still not under control, according to ynet. Firefighting aircraft have joined ground crews in efforts to extinguish the blaze.
The fire was first reported at approximately 10:31, with Sderot residents instructed to stay indoors due to concerns over a possible leak of hazardous materials. Police quickly blocked Highway 232 from east to west and the entrance to Sderot from Highway 34 in both directions to prevent access to the scene, as reported by N12. Firefighting aircraft were deployed to assist in the effort shortly thereafter.
The cause of the fire and the extent of damage have not yet been reported. It is unclear if any injuries have occurred. Authorities continue to monitor the situation.
