Firefighters from the Kiryot station have fully contained a brush fire that began in the Alroy area of Tivon and spread to the outskirts of Route 6, according to a statement from the Israel Fire and Rescue Services. The fire ignited parts of an acoustic barrier along the highway. Traffic was heavily congested and the northbound lane from Yokneam was temporarily closed, but the route has since reopened.
Deputy shift commander Reshef Momy Hemi, who led the operation, noted that crews faced difficult access and intense flames from highly combustible materials. Reinforcements and cross-district assistance were deployed. A fire investigator is examining the scene; arson is suspected.
The Zioneer has previously reported on several brush fires and suspected arson incidents across Israel in recent weeks, including an arrest of three suspects near the Oferit base on June 15 and a large brush fire near Havat Aviha on June 19. This incident appears to be one of multiple fires during a period of dry and hot conditions.
