Eight firefighting crews from the Galilee-Golan district continue to operate at a fire on Rabbi Street in Safed that consumed vegetation and a mixed-construction building. No injuries reported; an investigator will probe the cause.
Firefighting crews from the Galilee-Golan district have been operating for over two hours to contain and extinguish a fire on Rabbi Street in Safed. The blaze has burned vegetation and a mixed wood-and-light-construction structure, according to the Israel Fire and Rescue Services (Northern District). Eight firefighting teams are currently on scene, alongside Safed municipality personnel.
A preliminary assessment indicates the area around the building was not cleared, with significant waste and dry vegetation in the yard. Fire and Rescue emphasized the importance of pruning and clearing flammable materials around homes, especially during summer, to reduce the risk of fire spread.
Trespasser (Deputy Fire Chief) Natan Ben-Shimol, commander of the Galilee-Golan station, called on the public to clear vegetation and dispose of flammable waste. No injuries have been reported. A fire investigator will examine the circumstances of the blaze.
This fire follows a similar incident earlier this evening (approximately 18:29) in which crews contained a blaze threatening a home in Safed, as The Zioneer reported. The current fire on the same street is a separate event; no connection has been established.
