TL;DR

Moshe Davidovich, chairman of the Frontline Communities Forum and head of the Mateh Asher Regional Council, sent a letter to Defense Minister Israel Katz and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich warning that proposed across-the-board cuts to the IDF budget would harm security components in frontline communities — including emergency response squads, regional defense, and protective sheltering. He said Hezbollah's motivation has not diminished since October 7, cautioning that now is the wrong time to cut defense spending for the front-line towns, according to an N12 report.

01 · THE DISPATCH

Moshe Davidovich, chairman of the Frontline Communities Forum and head of the Mateh Asher Regional Council, sent a letter Thursday to Defense Minister Israel Katz and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich warning that proposed across-the-board cuts to the IDF budget would undermine security arrangements in frontline communities — including emergency response squads, regional defense, and protective sheltering — according to an N12 report.

Davidovich wrote that residents returned to their homes only after the state committed to investing in their security, and cautioned that cutting funding now could erode the protection that enabled their return. He stated that Hezbollah's motivation has not diminished since October 7, writing: "We must not skimp on security precisely now." He called on the ministers to intervene and prevent harm to the defense budgets designated for frontline communities.

As The Zioneer previously reported, Davidovich has been a vocal critic of what he views as insufficient government attention to northern communities. In June, he condemned a tax-benefit bill for Be'er Sheva, saying the government appeared to treat the war as over while northern residents still lacked adequate shelter protection.
