Yigal and Tal Brodetzki, residents of the Samaria community of Havat Gilad, have launched a fundraising campaign after their home was completely destroyed in the July wildfire that swept through the community. In a personal appeal shared by the Abu Ali Express the source, Yigal, who has served over 800 days of reserve duty, describes fleeing with their six children and losing everything they built over 12 years. The family says they had no insurance covering such a disaster and that the state does not currently recognize the fire, making them ineligible for compensation. 'We are starting from zero,' they write.
The Brodetzki family joins other Havat Gilad residents who have turned to crowdfunding following the fire, as The Zioneer has reported. The community, established in memory of Gilad Zar, saw approximately 30 buildings destroyed, leaving dozens of families homeless. The Brodetzkis are now calling on the public to partner with them in rebuilding their home.
