Hezbollah Member of Parliament Hassan Fadlallah said in an interview to Al-Mayadeen that Lebanon must reassess its relationship with Hezbollah amid what he described as significant regional changes. Fadlallah stated that communication with Qatar continues and that Doha played a positive mediating role leading to the US-Iran memorandum of understanding.
Fadlallah argued that Lebanese authorities cannot continue with the same policy given regional shifts, and that Hezbollah should not be treated as an entity outside the law. He noted that communication channels exist with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun but no direct political meetings between the sides, with the disagreement primarily revolving around Hezbollah and the possibility of direct negotiations with Israel.
According to Fadlallah, Hezbollah operates within the Lebanese government framework and its ministers are in contact with the president. He claimed the organization cooperated with the state and the Lebanese army, allowing military forces to enter areas where they sought to operate. Regarding southern Lebanon, Fadlallah said the border area has become largely weapon-free and asserted that Hezbollah has its own methods for transferring fighters and equipment, but stressed that resistance activity remains secret.
As The Zioneer reported, Fadlallah had previously described the US-Iran deal as a strategic victory for Iran. This latest statement comes amid ongoing Lebanon-related talks and negotiations between Israel and Lebanon.
