The IDF vanguard of the Israeli humanitarian delegation has landed in Venezuela, the military's spokesperson said Thursday, to aid local authorities in post-earthquake recovery. The official mission follows earlier private-sector rescue deployments.

01 · THE DISPATCH

The IDF vanguard of Israel's official humanitarian delegation has landed in Venezuela, the military spokesperson confirmed Thursday morning. The force is tasked with assisting local authorities in reconstruction and relief efforts following the severe earthquake that struck the country last week.

The mission follows earlier private-sector deployments by Israeli rescue organizations, including ZAKA, Magen, Ready for Rescue, and SmartAID, which have been operating in the disaster zone since late June. As The Zioneer reported, a first Israeli rescue delegation departed June 26, and a ZAKA team was already on the ground by June 28.

This arrival marks a significant escalation of Israel's humanitarian commitment: the IDF-led delegation, coordinated with the Foreign Ministry, is the first official Israeli government mission to Venezuela since diplomatic ties were severed in 2009. The Home Front Command is leading the military component, as reported in our earlier coverage.

The scope of the destruction in Venezuela remains extraordinary, with at least 16 nations sending search-and-rescue teams. The IDF delegation's specific tasks and the duration of its deployment have not yet been detailed.
